The Subject.
As a fine art photographer, I have always been drawn to the power of simplicity and emotion in an image that draws you in.
My work is built mostly around singular objects with uncluttered backgrounds, allowing the subjects presence to take center stage.
When I`m photographing an animal my aim is to strip away distraction and create a space where the subject can shine.
Animals.
Animals - particularly horses, have long been my greatest inspiration and passion. There is something very special in their expressions and how they move.
When I am behind the lens looking at a horse through the frame, time seems to slow down. Each photo I take of a horse holds more than what`s visible. It holds emotion and a sense of power and connection. There is a quiet dignity in the way horse`s carry themselves.
I feel truly privileged to have spent many years working with, and now photographing such special animals.
Black and White or Colour.
I love using both, and work in either medium depending on what gives the image the most impact.
I love the soft strength of calming tones and muted colours - but I`m equally drawn to the drama in black and white photography that allows emotion and form to take center stage.
Minimalistic.
My images are often minimalistic, I see an uncluttered background as a canvas that elevates the subject. To me it`s about creating a feeling of stillness, a moment to pause in a world that rarely stops moving.
My style grew from my own need of calm, clarity and connection. Photography for me is a way to slow down, look closely and appreciate the subtle beauty that can be easily overlooked.
Emotion
My work is inspired by emotion between the subject and viewer. Every image I take is intended to capture the feeling of power and grace that the subject holds, and I hope you feel that too.
That is the inspiration behind my work and at the heart of everything I create.
