This is a special time which you have invested in, to create beautiful art to hang in your home. Your dog wants to be as clean and dry as possible. Following my prep guide will ensure I can capture some stunning images you will be super excited to hang on your walls.
To be able to capture some really special images your dog needs to be looking their best. Imagine you are off to a show and you want to win best turned out.

Preparation is Key.
Prepare your dog - Your dog must be dry and clean. You do not need to bath your dog but if you do, bathing should be carried out a couple of days before the session. Wet patches on dogs do not photograph well! A good brush beforehand can make their coat smooth and shiny and is normally enough to make them look their best.
If your dog is prone to dribbling, please have a cloth or towel handy to keep their mouths clean.

Exercise.
Try and follow your normal routine to walking. If your dog is energetic I would suggest taking your dog for a short walk beforehand, to help settle them prior to the shoot. Ideally avoiding any water and excessively muddy places.
Excited panting dogs with tongues hanging out do not make nice images, so please bare that in mind. Be careful not to over exert your dog before the session, especially on warm days.

The Photoshoot.
Your main role, as the owner is to keep the dog calm and focused. Feel free to have on hand anything you know your dog loves and holds their attention, and will keep them happy throughout. Food treats will only be used as a last resort, do bring treats along for a reward at the end, but they must be kept hidden until needed.
It would be my absolute pleasure to photograph your dog, and capture their unique character which brings you so much love and joy.
